Stand-Up Red Light Therapy
A More Intense Full-Body Experience
Our Stand-Up Red Light Therapy system offers a very different experience.
Instead of reclining inside a warm pod, you stand surrounded by powerful red and near-infrared light.
The result is a hotter, more intense experience that can feel similar to being in a sauna, while simultaneously delivering four therapeutic wavelengths of light.
Wavelengths
633 nm • 660 nm • 850 nm • 940 nm
Irradiance
Up to 80 mW/cm²
Light Delivery
Continuous-wave photobiomodulation
This means the light remains continuously active throughout your session rather than rapidly pulsing on and off.
Why Four Wavelengths?
Different wavelengths interact with the body differently.
660 nm — Cellular & Soft Tissue Support
660 nm is one of the most researched wavelengths in photobiomodulation.
It is commonly studied for:
- Cellular energy
- Muscle recovery
- Tissue repair
- Healthy inflammatory signaling
- Skin and soft tissue applications
633 nm — Skin & Superficial Tissue
It has been studied for applications involving:
- Skin appearance
- Collagen-related activity
- Tissue repair
- Circulation
- Cellular signaling
850 nm — Deeper Near-Infrared Light
850 nm is invisible near-infrared light.
Near-infrared wavelengths can penetrate tissue more effectively than visible red wavelengths and are frequently studied in connection with:
- Muscle recovery
- Joint support
- Connective tissue
- Exercise recovery
- Deeper tissue applications
- Peripheral nerve function
940 nm — Additional Near-Infrared Coverage
940 nm adds another near-infrared wavelength with different absorption characteristics than 850 nm.
Rather than simply thinking of 940 nm as “deeper,” it is more accurate to think of it as adding another layer of near-infrared exposure.
This allows the Stand-Up system to provide a broader spectrum of red and near-infrared light.

Which Experience Is Right for You?
Choose the Prism Light Pod
if you prefer:
A relaxing and restorative experience.
You recline inside the pod while your body is surrounded by therapeutic red and near-infrared light.
The environment becomes comfortably warm, making it easy to relax, disconnect, and incorporate photobiomodulation into your self-care routine.
The Prism may be particularly appealing if your priorities include:
- Relaxation
- Skin health
- Recovery
- Stress reduction
- General wellness
- A traditional luxury spa experience
Choose the Stand-Up Red Light
if you prefer:
A hotter and more invigorating experience.
The Stand-Up system surrounds the body with high-output red and near-infrared light while creating a much hotter environment that many clients describe as sauna-like.
It may be particularly appealing for:
- Athletes
- Active individuals
- Muscle recovery
- Exercise recovery
- Joint and soft-tissue support
- Clients who enjoy heat
- Those who prefer an intense wellness experience
Its additional 940 nm wavelength also provides broader near-infrared exposure than the Prism Light Pod.
Light + Heat: Understanding the Difference
One of the most noticeable differences between Serenity’s two systems is simply how they feel.
The Prism Light Pod becomes pleasantly warm but is primarily designed around a relaxing photobiomodulation experience.
The Stand-Up system produces considerably more heat during the session.
That warmth may create a sauna-like sensation, but it is important to distinguish the experience from traditional sauna therapy.
The primary technology remains red and near-infrared photobiomodulation. The heat is part of the treatment experience rather than the primary therapeutic mechanism.
That means you’re not simply sitting in a hot environment — you’re simultaneously being exposed to four specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light.
Why 80 mW/cm² Matters
The Stand-Up system can deliver up to 80 mW/cm² of irradiance.
Irradiance describes how much light power is delivered to a given area.
This matters because photobiomodulation depends not only on wavelength, but also on:
- Light intensity
- Treatment duration
- Distance from the light
- Total energy delivered
- Tissue depth
- Treatment frequency
One important principle in photobiomodulation is that more is not always better.
Light therapy can demonstrate what researchers call a biphasic dose response, meaning an appropriate dose may create a beneficial biological response while excessive exposure may not necessarily produce additional benefit.
For that reason, treatment duration and frequency matter just as much as intensity.
Cellular Wellness From the Inside Out
One of the reasons photobiomodulation has become such an exciting area of wellness and functional medicine is that it approaches health from a foundational level.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, the goal is to support the biological systems responsible for:
Energy • Recovery • Circulation • Repair • Resilience
Your cells require energy to perform virtually everything they do.
By exposing the body to specific red and near-infrared wavelengths, photobiomodulation provides a non-invasive stimulus designed to support those cellular processes.

More Than a Spa Treatment
At Serenity, we believe self-care and health should not exist in separate worlds.
Sometimes wellness means allowing yourself an hour to completely relax.
Other times it means intentionally supporting your body’s ability to recover, repair, and perform.
Our approach brings those worlds together.
Relaxation meets technology.
Self-care meets cellular wellness.
Luxury meets science.
That is the philosophy behind Red Light Therapy at Serenity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does red light therapy contain UV light?
No. Our photobiomodulation systems use red and near-infrared wavelengths rather than ultraviolet light.
They are not tanning devices.
Why can’t I see the near-infrared light?
Human eyes can see approximately 380–700 nm.
The 850 nm and 940 nm wavelengths are outside the visible spectrum, so although they are being emitted by the system, you cannot see them.
Why does the Stand-Up machine feel so much hotter?
The Stand-Up system uses a different design and higher-output treatment environment, resulting in considerably greater heat accumulation around the body.
Many clients describe the experience as similar to a sauna.
The primary treatment, however, remains red and near-infrared photobiomodulation rather than conventional sauna therapy.
Is the Prism Light Pod hot?
The Prism becomes warm, creating a comfortable and relaxing experience, but it generally does not create the same intense heat sensation as the Stand-Up system.
Is one machine better than the other?
They provide different experiences and slightly different wavelength profiles.
The Prism offers 630, 660 and 850 nm in a relaxing reclined environment.
The Stand-Up offers 633, 660, 850 and 940 nm, continuous-wave light delivery and up to 80 mW/cm², with a much hotter sauna-like experience.
The best choice often depends on your goals and which type of experience you prefer.
